The Bharath Abhyudaya Seva Samithi (BASS) is a registered non-governmental organisation working for the development of poor and marginalised communities in rural and urban areas of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, India.

BASS was founded by Chuka Peter Paul an eminent professional social scientist in 1978 after the havoc cyclone hit to serve the vulnerable families in Guntur district. Mr Peter Paul has been continuously heading of the BASS as founder president and guiding light for all the Executive body staff and volunteers of the BASS to execute development projects. Under his able leadership BASS has been successfully completed and continued several social, educational, health care and emergency relief activities.

Sad news that Chukka Peter Paul, the founder of BASS is passed away on 6th January 2023.

Mr Joseph A Arogyanadh is the key administrator of the BASS with a designation of Chief coordinator. He is a professional social worker started his career as village Animator and continuously doing by learning and promoted as Chief Coordinator and directly working with all the stakeholders of the BASS include beneficiaries, community, colleague staff, volunteers, community, government departments and national and international collaborating partners. Mr Joseph has a diploma in Community Based Development with child development from Coady International Institute, St Francis Xavier University, Canada and also attended various workshops and trainings in India and also in Germany. Creation of balanced and inclusive society with equal participation from Dalits, Tribes, women and other excluded groups in the society.

To educate and promote access of universal primary education to all the children under 14 years of age.

Education and health care for all and equal access to justice and the fulfillment of basic needs like food, shelter, safe drinking water and sanitation.

To reduce child labor and schools dropouts by establish special innovative educational programs.

The development of our society relies completely on the development of our children. By developing children, we do not only invest in their future and that of their families, but also in the future of our nation. Child development however, depends entirely on the quality of care and attention we as a society pay to their well-being and education. Many children in poor communities in rural and urban areas in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh are missing the opportunities to dream of a bright future. With the prevailing poverty, illiteracy and lack of infrastructure, children in rural areas are being let down in terms of care and education. Lack of sufficient and regular income forces parents to send their children to work in slate quarries, handloom and lime industry. While being exposed to harsh and dangerous conditions and malnutrition, children become physically weak and suffer from health problems. BASS works hard to end this chain of suffering that has gone on for generations by strengthening child support systems in a comprehensive manner.
